Annual Events:

The Annual l Los Alamos Dog Jog Each spring LADOC participates in a day of fun for the entire family, including dog! Two jogs are offered at the same time - a timed, 3.1 mile run, and an untimed, 2 mile walk. Dogs are welcome - and encouraged - on both courses. If you don't have a dog, come join the fun anyway, there will be lots of furry friends to pet!!

Important Dog Info:

  • All dogs must be on leash of 6-ft maximum length at all times.
  • Don't feed your dog 90 minutes before or after the Dog Jog to help prevent bloat (gastric dilatation or gastric torsion)
  • Be a good neighbor and clean up after your dog. Bags are provided at registration on race day, and waste disposal sites are stationed around the length of the course.
  • Bicycles, roller blades, and skateboards and prohibited, as many dogs react unpredictably around these methods of travel (wheelchairs and baby strollers are welcome, however)

The Los Alamos Dog Jog is supported by the efforts of Friends of the Shelter and other local organizations; it would not be possible without the donations and support of our many sponsoring organizations.

Labor Day Weekend American Kennel Club Obedience Trial:
Since 1951, LADOC has been holding AKC-licensed obedience trials for the
Los Alamos community on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. This annual
trial is part of a 3-day cluster of obedience trials that draws competitors from across the country.
